The Manchester Evening News reported that despite previous months of negotiations between Amazon and United over the documentary, the club's hierarchy ultimately decided to the partnership due to manager Amo's dissatisfaction.
The documentary was planned to focus on the crucial period of transformation for United following their "worst season in the League era", with Amazon offering a fee of over £10 million, setting a new high for the "All or Nothing" series, which both Manchester City and Newcastle United previously participated in.
However, football finance expert Dan Plumley stated that although this plan was shelved, he believes it is only a matter of time before a documentary produced featuring United. Speaking to Football Insider, he said: "United have always been one of the most attractive clubs in the world and everyone wants to know what goes on behind the and see the behind-the-scenes footage. I'm sure it will happen at some point."
"If the figure quoted of £10 million is accurate that would be indicative of the value and attractiveness of the United brand. But it's not something they're desperate for, it's more about brand exposure and the offshoots that could follow."
"It's not just about the domestic fan base. The main consumers of this type of content are overseas fans who cant get to the games every week, so this behind-the-scenes documentary would be more relatable for them."
